I believe that loyalty is a very important but often misunderstood and misused value. To learn my views on loyalty as one of the 8 key values of 1 Malaysia, click here for the video or read the transcript below.

LOYALTY

I think loyalty is important because it is a cornerstone of trust. In any relationship, loyalty is important. As a friend, for example, you're loyal to your friend, because if you're loyal to your friend, it develops trust. A personal bond between you and the other person. But I would define loyalty as something which should not be taken to the extreme where it's blind loyalty. I think in the government service, for example, the government administration, certainly one needs to be loyal to the leader. But one should also be loyal to the leader for as long as the leader is also loyal, in the sense that the leader performs, the leader is committed to his work, is dedicated. And loyalty does not mean that you cannot criticize, but of course you should criticize in the right manner, in the right place and the right time, for example. I would certainly appreciate that, whether it's in a personal relationship or in the context of my colleagues that there'll be a time and opportunity for them to offer some constructive views, for example, even criticism, which I think is necessary. But loyalty should also be coupled with ability. You cannot just reward a person just because he or she is loyal, but you forget the fact that loyalty without performance, without ability will not be adequate. Loyalty is important, yes, but it has to be coupled with other considerations as well.

Yes I think gone are the days when loyalty should be misconstrued as blind faith, or as having a carte blanche in terms of personal relationship, that you can do whatever you like, and you get away with it. I think that's wrong. I think it would be a disservice in terms of personal relationship or whether it's in the government, that there is no room for constructive criticism or even dissent. Provided it is done in a very correct manner, and with good intentions.

zeli: SETIA KEPADA SATU PARTI - 'state of the art' dalam politik, satu kesempurnaan...perrrfect!
Datuk Seri Najib..."harapanku"

Martin Tan: 1Malaysia
1Malaysia seem to be a noble concept.
Question is what is the blue print behind it.
Every PM that came had SLOGANS without blue print.
How should 1MALAYSIA be interpreted.
With the so many priorities given to one race surely such a concept CANNOT WORK.
If you are sincere in the concept than start by revamping the civil service. You jolly well know that the whole service is dominated by only one race. That hardly reflects a 1MALAYSIA concept.
So please don't say things that mean nothing.

Loyalty to our mission and vision and to our aspiration to one malaysia should pervade regardless who our leaders are. That loyalty in its true meaning against all odds should propel Malaysia to become a respected nation. That the power actually lies with the people.

Above shared the same vision & we saw real outcome on 8th Mar but it was too late. If we used the ICT well enough, sure the message will be reached the public and might gain some respect of public before 8th Mar. But we failed.
My point is that, If BN still focused with racial centre political alignments, sure it will create another mega disaster in 2013. New PM should see PPP as is the "Magic Key" or “Political Blade” for future voters and use PPP to gain back the public trust towards BN. As a starting point, New PM should appoint our President -KVS as special advisor to PM and acknowledge PPP’s loyalty as a BN component party.

Rather looking at the past, we should focus with future & re-act to change PPP into more active BN component in coming years. One way-ICT (Face book, you tube, blogging, MySpace, flickers)became a “Political Knife” for opposition to cut the public’s minds on “8th Mar 2008”. Pak Lah himself admitted that “BN lost in ICT WAR”. As far I can see, Chandran is the person very active in ICT world and giving immediate feedbacks via his blog.
“Dato Onn Jaffar had a vision for Umno to be a party open to all races” –Dato Onn &
“If BN doesn’t become one party, it will be a failure in the future. It is beginning to be a failure”. - President KVS (edge apr 2007)

"The opportunity that Hawaii offered—to experience a variety of cultures in a climate of mutual respect—became an integral part of my world view, and a basis for the values that I hold most dear." – Obama.
As for Obama, he felt gifted and lucky to grow up in variety of cultures but for PPP grown up within multicultural society for past 50years. PPP is the only party with “Cultures in a Climate of Mutual Respect” in Malaysia. We are the only political party that can communicate with every one without thinking of racial borders. We should be proud of as PPP members and gifted to be part of multicultural members.
We have a mixed of opinions from different people but focused with new PM’s political line up. For ACK he gave his point of view but we can’t say he is racist or others. All of us showed their views as in dissatisfaction of our new political line up.

OnlyMalaysian: Loyalty needs to be nurtured
Dear Dato' Sri, the people's loyalty is indeed an important ingredient for a strong nation. This loyalty needs to be nurtured by instilling a sense of deep pride in being called a citizen of our beloved Malaysia. Race and religion should not be allowed to be obstacles to loyalty. With regard to this, I would like to appeal to Dato' Sri to scrap the Kursus Kenegaraan which is compulsory for new civil servants including doctors. The contents of this Kursus are blatantly racist and seditious, and create civil servants who are disillusioned with the whole concept of a united cosmopolitan Malaysia. Ironically, this Kursus is run under the auspices of the PM's Department. A more suitable Kursus would be one that motivates the participants in the spirit of OneMalaysia, and creates a sense of pride and belonging among all Malaysians irrespective of race and religion.A disenchanted civil service will definitely not be to the advantage of our lovely nation. I LOVE MY MALAYSIA!

Rasa bangga apabila melihat gambar DS dibandaraya Jakarta.
