Climate change is probably the most critical issue facing mankind today. To underscore our concern and our commitment towards saving Planet Earth, I will attend the forthcoming UN Climate Change Summit. I will present Malaysia’s own position, and participate working to achieve a global consensus so that collectively, nations around the world will make a positive contribution towards reducing carbon emission and in turn save Planet Earth.

What can we do on a personal level? I have a few suggestions for your consideration. Firstly, what I practice now is to read documents electronically through my mobile phone or PDA. This way I am reducing the amount of written material.

Secondly, I turn down the air-conditioning at the office and at home by one degree Celsius. Although it seems like a small effort, it can significantly reduce carbon emissions and your electricity bills.

Thirdly, something quite easily done is to have reports submitted in a more concise and succinct manner. This reduces the amount of paper you use daily.

Fourthly, I have and will continue to donate unused items or recycle them. A lot of these items are thrown away only to be dumped into landfills, contributing to ‘landfill gas’ which increases global temperature.

These are just some suggestions, but there are many other things that one can do to reduce carbon emission. I hope that we can continue to interact and that you will share your personal contributions or tips to protect the environment.

Eric Yeap: Request for a green helping hand.
Dear Mr. Prime Minister,

We are a private entity doing our bit of social responsibility by organizing a series of green events throughout Malaysia called Project Revive with the first one kicking off at Teluk Batik beach - Lumut on the 11th & 12th June 2010. We have got Malaysians of different diversity from all over Malaysia volunteering in the event. They volunteered their valuable time and paid for their transportation and accomodations with their own money all for the sake of the environment. That gesture alone speaks volume of how much the environment meant to the them.

We hope we could provide them with all the meals to say the least and proper attire if we could but being salaried men ourselves we would like to request for a green helping hand from Mr. Prime Minister.
Kindly visit our website at www.projectrevive.ca for a better understanding of what our event is all about. Looking forward to your green helping hand.

Let's Walk the Green Talk Together !

Eric Yeap: Malaysia's option Sun, Wind & Water
It is always beneficial to all if the public's voices is taken into consideration before the implementation of any project that is going to effect their livelihood and that of their future generation. Malaysia is a blessed country with abundance of sun , rain and wind. Shouldn't we not look into this few natural alternatives first before firing up the coal plant. The people voted their representative to the parliment to do the job that they are entrusted to do by the electoral, shouldn't they do just that or at least try. I suppose the minimum they can do is to do a study on the optons and place it on the table for the rakyat to choose since its them and their livelihood that is at stake here. I am sure Y.A.B. P.M and Y.B. Chin will come up with the right and popular choice for the rakyat.

Nagendran Ramamurthy: Submitting a simple idea to the respected PM- Indoor plants- potentially far reaching benefits globally
Respected Prime Minister, I recently came across the benefits of having indoor plants in enclosed spaces. In brief:
- Certain types of indoor plants can help significantly improve the quality of indoor air (higher oxygen levels, clean up pollutants etc) with perceptable health benefits.
- This in itself is valuable, but I think we can go a step further. Given better air quality, we should be able to adjust aircon settings to acheive energy savings and reduce refrigerant emissions.
- If this can be made cost neutral, everyone can implement and the whole nation (and indeed the world) can enjoy both health and energy/green benefits.
- I am trying to implement this in my office.
I hope this idea reaches you personally.. and that you find it interesting enough to start a pilot.

Thanks and with respects,
Nagendran Ramamurthy

kondoi: Haze...
Dear PM....

Sekian,Wassalam

Junaidi Payne: Possible best way to tackle carbon
See James Hansen's paper at http://www.columbia.edu/~jeh1/...susCap.pdf . Great idea and probably easier for a small, developing democracy to introduce than big nations such as USA and China.

Nadira Ilana: NO Lahad Datu Coal Plant or Kaiduan Dam!
Sabah is at the crossroads of making a decision, which will forever impact on this State. I implore you to abandon the construction of a coal plant. Alternative sources for energy need to be explored. Take the example of Kampung Buayan, a kampung near Papar, which has taken it onto themselves to embrace microhydro technology. In spite of this remarkable example they are showing to all Malaysians, Kampung Buayan will be one of the 15 native Sabahan villages which will be submerged with the building of the Kaiduan d*m. Enough d*mage has been done since the Babagon d*m. Let us make the right choices for climate change and become a world class model of green energy, WE SAY NO TO COAL-FIRED POWER PLANT AND KAIDUAN d*m IN SABAH. Thank you.
