This coming weekend, the Indian community in Malaysia all over the country will be celebrating the sacred holiday of Hari Deepavali, the ancient Festival of Lights symbolising the victory of good over evil.
As Malaysians continue to celebrate Hari Raya Aidilfitri, Deepavali is a golden opportunity for ties between ethnic groups to be strengthened in true 1Malaysia spirit. As is customary, members of the Indian community will be graciously welcoming their fellow Malaysians to open houses, permitting all to interact with one another and enjoy Indian delicacies such as jalebi and murukku in mutual respect, harmony and unity. On Saturday, I will be attending such an open house, to be held at the Putra World Trade Centre, Kuala Lumpur. It is an event I am very much looking forward to, after receiving warm receptions from Malaysian Indians this year.
In this same breath, I thought about the walkabout in Brickfields, Kuala Lumpur, where I fondly recall chatting with traders over a refreshing glass of Teh O Ais Limau. More recently, I was honoured to receive an invitation to the Hindu temple of Batu Caves. There, I observed Malaysians of all cultural backgrounds taking part in the inaugural 1Malaysia Batu Caves Carnival and I hope to see many more celebrations of our diverse communities.
However and wherever you choose to celebrate this colourful festival, may Deepavali light up your weekend. Selamat Hari Deepavali and Deepavali Nal Vaazhtukal!

I`m a person from a low income family. I do not have enough money to pay for the deposit for buying a house, so at the moment i`m renting a house for $550 a month for the past few year.
I have some money in the KWSP. My question is why the department can`t help me to pay for the down payment for the house, so i do not have to waste my $550 on rental.
If they could do that i will have my own house. I do understand that the fund is for OUR OLDER TIME SAVING but what the purpose of if if we can`t even have a roof to start-up with? By the way it is our money, they should release it when it is needed.
I know a lot of Malaysian out there are in the same situation. i hope that this matter brought to your attention and something done about it?
if you all could do that most Malaysian would have a roof.
THANK YOU
MAY THE NATION PROSPEROUS UNDER YOUR GOVERNING
